We thought, when it first came along, that it would be a fad,

To make matters worse for Ford,

in 2000, the British Government decided that company cars

Yeah, that meant people had to buy their own cars.

In 2000, they came first, second and third

And the following year, Mondeo sales did go up a bit.

But then, they stopped motor racing.
