a crude but effective war of nerves.

The Japanese was a good soldier.
He was a good soldier.

lf he was told to do a job,
he would stop there until he died.

great fighting soldiers.

what you might call "comfort girls".

And, of course,in the officers'
parties you all drank...

the thing was to get drunk
very quickly, sing songs,
而因为女孩数量有限,
and because of
the limitation of the girls,

only the high officers got them later.

l think the English have a song
called "Roll Me Over in the Clover",

And similar in content, too.
对士兵来说,我们的娱乐...
For the enlisted men,
our entertainment...
因为你只有在战役之间
或者休假日的时候娱乐,
Because you're entertaining only
between battles or on one day's leave,
而第二天你可能就会死,
我们没有时间进行任何过长的娱乐,
and you may die next day, we don't have
much time for any lengthy entertainment,
我们直接去找慰安妇
we go straight to the comfort girls.
你付了钱你出来的时候感觉
精神振作象重生了一样
You pay your money and you come out
feeling refreshed and like a new man.
大部分娱乐士兵的慰安妇,
Most of the comfort girls
for the enlisted men,
许多是朝鲜人,
many were Koreans,
我必须说我非常尊敬她们所有人,
and I must say
l respect all of them very much,
因为还有谁会到前线来给予我们
中的许多人在这世间最后的娱乐呢?
