Don't try to be the law yourself.

There was a tremendous change...

the change being that we were the same
individuals as prior to December 7;

on December 8, when we went to school,
many of our classmates and friends

called us "dirty Japs",
teased us, harassed us,

were no longer friends.

the Germans were hated thoroughly
