在西线则是一个不同的故事
In the west it was a different story.

Sidestepping pockets of the enemy
the Allied columns moved east.

One had almost moved into
a dreamlike and unreal situation

mentioned the possibility that we could not win,

The battle for Berlin itself
was extremely difficult.
