What made you gravitate towards flamenco?

I feel more connected to the style and it allows me

to express that inner ferocious tiger.

Growing up in New Jersey, a lot of little girls

were trained in ballet and hip-hop.

But I wanted to try something different.

My family's from Puerto Rico.

And I'm very proud to represent my culture

because Puerto Rico's actually going through a tough time right now.

When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico,

I was devastated.

It was a Category 5 hurricane.

The damage was horrible.

It means the world to me to represent and show where I come from,

and I feel like we just really need to be their support.

That was actually one of the first things I learned to dance

when I was five years old.

It's still so much a part of who I am.
