- Watergate pulled the plug
on the South Vietnamese,

cut off all aid to them
so they couldn't get

fuel for the airplanes,

and that sort of thing.

Meanwhile, the
Russians and Chinese

were just pouring
stuff like crazy

We saw the build-up
and everything,

had a prohibition
against taking action

They do, after all, have
the fifth largest army

Located just north of Saigon,

the Phuc Long District
by the Cambodian border

stands between North Vietnam

It is of vital importance to
North Vietnamese trade routes.

Taking it will be a test

Starting their attacks
on December 12th,

North Vietnamese armies
first take outposts

on Route 14 which runs
southwest to northeast,

A deluge of rain saves
the South Vietnamese

a lot of our time,

politically why we did it,

imminent in South Vietnam,
