that there would always be a place in our collective memory

for those who've willingly given their lives

so that we could live ours.

Two years ago on this day, our lives changed forever.

Many of us lost our families,

The truth is as I look around here this evening,

We're still fighting, still losing loved ones,

it's really hard to look at what we've built

I lost a friend today.

And her sacrifice is an all-too-familiar reminder

that every single day matters.

Tonight, we will inscribe on the leaves of this tree
