When I was 17.

So, just before the end of high school.

In my senior year, I got outed at school and everything changed.

I was having a really hard time. I got into alcohol

and started doing stuff that I shouldn't.
有个朋友跟我一起住
One of my friends was living with us.

She had her own issues at home.

My mom freaked and was like, "Your friend has to leave,
她把你带坏了"
your friend's a bad influence."
但我朋友是唯一知道我想法的人
But my friend was the only one who knew what was going on.

I was like, "She has nothing to do with it."
我们吵来吵去
And so, in a screaming match about all this,
她说"给我更好的理由你怎么了"
she was like, "Give me a reason, what's wrong with you."
我说"我是同性恋同性恋
I was like, "I'm gay. I'm gay.
学校里所有人
And, like, everyone is making
让我的日子很难过"
my life frigging miserable now at school."
我妈有点失控
And my mom just kind of lost it.
最后我朋友没走走的是我
And instead of making my friend go, I did instead.
这条路我也走过担心我的过去
I've been down this road before, worried about my past,
担心曾经的人
worried about the people in my past.
有天我终于明白
One day, I just had to realize
谁管你过去到底怎么样呢
who cares if your past doesn't come along with you.

You only need your present and your future.

Skyler's future is bright.

I was outed at 16. I left at 15.

And that can be a hard thing to heal from.
