gravity of will,

And once again, she would sleep.
她会醒来
She would wake.
她会走动
And she would walk.

As if woken from a nightmare,
她会走回自己的家
she would walk back to her home,

feeling each time that it was a dream.
她觉得如果她走进卧室
Feeling that if she walked to her bedroom,

to the room she once shared with her husband,

her infant daughter,
也许噩梦就会消失
that perhaps the nightmare would abate,

that she could simply slip into the warmth of blankets

and nestle herself to the bosom of her family,

waiting for her all this time.

And she'd stare at that empty bed...
薇奥拉会记起来
and Viola would remember.
回忆本身就是再次伤害
And the remembering itself was injury anew.

Her heart would shatter anew,

burning in her bosom,
她希望用新庄园的冰冷泥水...
a searing ache that she hoped would be quenched by the...

cold, muddy waters of her new manor.

Her new home.
这样她就会睡着
Thus, she would sleep,
她会忘记
and she would forget.
忘记以后她会醒来
Having forgotten, she would wake.
她会走动
She would walk.

How many nights, how many walks...
她已经数不清了
she no longer could count.
她的注意力只在前面
Her attention lay only ahead,
只在那张床上那是她的目标
only on the bed that was her goal,
在女儿身上每次她醒来都相信
and on the daughter she believed, each time she woke,
女儿会在那里等着她
would be waiting for her there.

She did not even realize that a decade had passed,

not even realize, after an outbreak of plague in the village,

that the empty manor had become a quarantine

And as the plague doctor died,

so he was immediately forgotten,

and a strange phenomenon occurred.

Her gravity, it seemed, her invented gravity

and as happens when one dreams, she would forget.

And having forgotten, she would wake.

Viola faintly noticed her own attempted exorcism.

And alas, the poor vicar,
第二个发现自己挡住薇奥拉路的人
the second person to find himself in Viola's path.
她会睡着
She would sleep,
忘记一切
forget, and forget, and forget.
这种遗忘
And with the forgetting,
完全是可怕的疾病
an ailment altogether monstrous.

All things fade.

All things. Flesh, stone, even stars themselves.

Time takes all things. It is the way of the world.

The past recedes, memories fade,

and so, true, does the spirit.

Everything yields to time,

even the soul.
醒来走动忘却更多记忆
Wake, walk, forget even more.
忘了她的名字
Her name, forgotten.
忘了她妹妹的名字
Her sister's name, forgotten.
她的记忆离她而去
As her memories left her,
她的脸也离她而去
so, too, her face.
她记不太清了...
So little did she remember...
一天晚上她发现女儿的旧床上有个小孩
that one night, she found a child in her daughter's old bed,
却不记得她一直想见的人是谁
and could not remember who she had been hoping to see.
她只有模糊的念头她走了这么远
She had only the faint notion that she'd walked this far
希望找到一个孩子
hoping to find a child,
这里就有一个孩子
and here was a child.
肯定是她要找的那个孩子
It must be the child whom she'd sought.
肯定是的
It must.
她会睡着她会消失
She would sleep, and she would fade.
消失再消失
And fade, and fade.
其他人也是如此
And the others, too.
那些灵魂留在她的轨道上
Those souls held in her orbit,
那些不幸的人陷入了
those unfortunates trapped in the gravity well
她用布莱庄园打造的重力井中
she had made of Bly Manor.
他们也在逐渐消失
They were fading as well.
威洛比的大女儿
The eldest of Willoughby's daughters,

daughters, once Lady Lloyd of Bly,

Unaware that she'd ever had a sister at all.

To murder, or be murdered by.

A fate that befell anyone unfortunate enough

to step into her habitual path.

A fate that befell a poor valet,
可怜的贴身男仆身上
so many years later.
命运降临在由于其他缘故死在布莱的人身上
A fate that befell even those who died of other causes at Bly,
他们发现自己被薇奥拉的重力所控制
who found themselves in the grips of Viola's gravity,
即使永远不会被她冰冷的双手所掌控
even if never in the grip of her icy hands.
任何不幸死在布莱庄园的人
No hope for anyone with the sad misfortune
他们都没有希望
to die on the grounds of Bly.
布莱的受害者没有希望
No hope for the victims of Bly,
无论他们是命运的受害者
be they victims of fate,
罪恶的受害者
of vice,
疾病的受害者还是彼此的受害者
or disease, or of each other.
对年轻的家庭教师来说似乎也没有希望...
And no hope, it would seem, for the young au pair...

who, having run afoul of so many of the dead,

and who had finally stepped into the path of her own fate.
