That a delusion is an idea.
想法是有传染性的
That an idea can be contagious.
人类是会寻找规则的生物
That human beings are pattern-seeking animals.
我是说我们喜欢符合规律的想法
By which, I mean we prefer ideas that fit a pattern.
也就是说 我们不相信我们所见的
In other words, we don't believe what we see.
我们只会看到我们所相信的
We see what we believe.
当我们遭受压力
And when we are stressed
或者我们的信仰遭到挑战
or our beliefs are challenged--
当我们感到遭到威胁
when we feel threatened--
我们的想法也许会失去理智
the ideas we have can become irrational,
一个接一个又一个的
one delusion leading to another,
幻觉
and another,
人类的思维会努力保持其完整性
as the human mind struggles to maintain its identity.
等到那个时候
And when this occurs,
蛋中孕育的
what starts as an egg
可能会是一头怪兽
can become a monster.
