我们没有理由往外看
We have no reason to look out.
相反看那边
Instead, look over there.

What do you see?

That's the door.

The only way in.
狭小且让人感到不适
Small and extremely uncomfortable.

I want fanatics for God.
因为狂热才是爱
Because fanaticism is love.
其他一切都是替代品
Everything else is strictly a surrogate,

and it stays outside the church.

We received plenty of esteem and lots of friendship.

I have no idea what to do
面对着整个世界的友善
with the friendship of the whole wide world.
我想要的是对上帝绝对的爱和完全的忠诚
What I want is absolute love and total devotion to God.
那意味着教会只是为少数人准备的吗
Could that mean a Church only for the few?
这是一个假设
That's a hypothesis,
假设和现实不一样
and a hypothesis isn't the same as reality.
但即使这个假设没有如此难言
But even this hypothesis isn't so scandalous.
比起拥有不专心而又冷漠的一大群人
Better to have a few that are reliable
还是拥有少却可靠的人更好
than to have a great many that are distractible and indifferent.
公共广场已经拥挤不堪了
The public squares have been jam-packed,
但他们心中却没有上帝
but the hearts have been emptied of God.
你不能用数量来衡量爱
You can't measure love with numbers,
只能用强度来衡量
you can only measure it in terms of intensity.
根据绝对服从命令的原则来衡量
In terms of blind loyalty to the imperative.
用你的灵魂牢牢记住这个词
Fix that word firmly in your souls:
命令
Imperative.
从今天起这就是教宗想要的
From this day forth, that's what the Pope wants,
这就是教会想要的
that's what the Church wants,
这就是上帝想要的
that's what God wants.
所以礼拜仪式不再是一个社交活动
And so the liturgy will no longer be a social engagement,
它会成为一项艰苦的工作
it will become hard work.
而罪恶也不再会被随意原谅
And sin will no longer be forgiven at will.

I don't expect any applause from you.

Courtesy and good manners are not the business of men of God.

And this Pope cannot be blackmailed!

From this day forth, the word "Compromise",
