People have certain expectations, certain assumptions

when you use the word "court" and "judge" in the United States

that judges are protected

and that they are to make independent decisions

based on the facts of the case and law of the case.

That's what judges are supposed to do.

But immigration court and immigration judges are not like that.

We do not have the protection of being an independent court.

We are in a law enforcement agency.

Immigration courts are not nearly as independent as they should be
