The area is called Nacajuca.

We are in Tabasco, southeast Mexico.

Nacajuca, it's just 10 meters above the sea level.

So, flood, it's very common around this area.

The land and the people, it's mainly indigenous.

is the poorest people around Nacajuca.

Ultimately, this land is going to be given to the families.

And so, when we finally got that signed over in Nacajuca,

I am Alexandria,

a Director of New Story, a foundation from the United States, in San Francisco.

In one year, we'll have a community here

It's the first community in the world that will be built using a 3D printer.

I've participated in plenty of contests,

and I've never won anything, not even a piece of gum.

And so, when they told me that they'd give me a house, that was very shocking for me.

At a young age, I had a-- you know, a life change.

When I was 18,

out of nowhere, got a really rare form of cancer.

I was fortunate enough to get through that moment,

but it just put into perspective, like,

what actually matters in this short life that we have?

And, for me, it was so clear.

You know, to be honest, I can't imagine doing anything else with my life.

But you have to take risk to advance anything into the future.

Phase one is 3D-printing 50 homes for 50 families.

Because we're gonna be in a developing world context,
没有大量的资源
without a lot of resources,
此事的方方面面都很难
everything about this is hard.
有机器人技术问题 如何能让这样巨大的东西
So there's robotics problems. How do you get a giant thing like this

to move with 32th-of-an-inch precision?

The advanced materials themselves sort of this, we call it "Lavacrete,"

but our proprietary concrete mix.

It's somewhere on the spectrum between a mortar and a concrete.

Sort of in this interesting gray area as a material.
