I've just seen a little thing that looks like a cat.

We've got a genet!

Genets are a slim, catlike animal with huge eyes,

especially helpful for hunting at night.

And with all these elephants around,
they can sneak right up on their prey.

Yeah, those are gunshots.

Waldo, did you hear those gunshots?
有，情况不妙，尽速回来
WALDO: Yeah, uh, dude, get back to camp ASAP.
枪响让大象跑回了森林里
BERTIE: The gunshots sent the elephants back to the forest,
我们也回到树上的营地
and us to our camp in the trees.
我没想到拍摄作业竟会如此收尾
It's not how I expected our filming to end.
现在一切就看监测摄影机了
Now it all comes down to the camera traps.
好，来吧
Right, here we go.

We've collected all of the camera trap memory cards.

So me and Ngbanda are now gonna watch them back

and see if we got anything.

(Bertie gasps)
NGBANDA: Ooh!

(grumbling)

This baby elephant is so beautiful.
母亲停下来等着宝宝
The mother stops and waits for her baby.

Look, he steps over the log.

What amazing eyes.

BERTIE: Yeah, he's got really long eyelashes. Sshoo.

But this isn't the only clip on the camera.
(gasps)

NGBANDA: Njoku wambule.

BERTIE: Look at the size of his tusks!
NGBANDA: Ooohhh.

He's very big
and handsome!
(trumpets)

He comes towards us strutting like this.

BERTIE: A tusker this big is an incredibly rare sight,
连班达来说都十分罕见
even for Ngbanda.

When I look at his tusks,

I know that this elephant has lived for a long time.

He's a very old male.
想到这头象牙王悄悄漫步在森林里长达半个多世纪
BERTIE: It's magical to think this tusker
has been secretly roaming the forest for over half a century.
真是神奇
牠守护着地盘，抵抗入侵的盗猎者
Defending his territory and evading poachers.
我希望这些大象能够继续活下去因为要是没有牠们
I hope this species continues to hang on,
because without them, this place would not exist.
这个地方就不会存在
这些大象不只是森林的一部分牠们就是森林
These elephants aren't just part of the forest,
they are the forest,
牠们保持森林健康，决定大地型态
you know, they keep it healthy, they shape the landscape.
我亲眼目睹牠们遭遇的危险
(grumbling)
I've witnessed the dangers they're up against.
(grumbling)
所以我抱持崇敬的心态离开这里不仅是针对丛林象
So I leave this place with a deep respect
not just for forest elephants,
还有那些冒着生命危险保护牠们的人们
but for the people that dedicate their lives to protecting them.
(trumpets)
