Mother bears are always desperate for food for their cubs,

so the crew could be the perfect supper.

She's getting in. - Oh, my God,

she's going to come in the water there.
15英尺的距离足矣
The 15-foot gap was just enough.

Do you want to get close up to the cubs? - Still rolling.

看来熊妈妈曾想接近船体
She looked like she wanted to get in the boat.
有时当你在监控器上观察时
Sometimes, it's quite shocking
一想到它们仅有大概15英尺之遥
to actually look up from the monitor
还是不免会心惊胆寒
and realise they're about 15 feet away from you.
不过终究是可爱的一家熊熊
But, um, a lovely family group.
船上的摄影机使得我们
The boat-based camera has helped
可以拍摄到北极熊一家的特写
to get remarkably close shots of the bear family,
然而在南部海域更为极端的条件下
but how would it cope in the more extreme conditions
又该如何应对呢
of the Southern Ocean?

Another Frozen Planet team headed south.
计划利用相同的摄影器材
The plan is to use the same camera system
拍摄南极最为壮观的海洋杀手
to film the hunting strategy
之猎食战术
of the most spectacular marine predators in Antarctica.
这便是逆戟鲸
Killer whales.
摄制组获得了鲍勃·皮特曼及约翰·德班
The team enlisted the help of scientists Bob Pitman
两位科学家的支持
and John Durban.
他们在鲸鱼体内植入了卫星定位芯片
They had put satellite tags on the whales,
因此可以为摄制组锁定其位置
and so could locate them for the camera team.

Doug Allan operates the camera rig from the wheelhouse,

It just surfaced right with them.

OK, there's a killer whale at 11:00,

about 200 metres heading towards those two seals on the floe.

Good. This could be really good.
最终历经数日的追踪
At last, having tracked the group for several days,
鲸群貌似要展开猎杀了
the whales look as if they are about to hunt.
是的它们就要进攻了
Yeah, they're going to go in for it.
开始了
There it goes.
共四头鲸两头成年雌性
Four whales there. Um, two adult females,
一头幼鲸一头体格巨大的雄性
a juvenile and a big adult male.
正展开队形鲸群要掀起水浪
Swimming in formation, the killers create a wave
把海豹冲下浮冰
to wash the seal off the floe.
水浪非常凶猛
It's all pretty intense.
又掀起一波
Oh. There's another wave.
是啊 -哇好大的浪
Yes. - Wave! Wow!
海豹被冲下水了
Yeah, he's in the water.
船上的摄影机成功拍摄下
Having successfully filmed several hunts
几组猎杀镜头之后
with the boat-based cameras from above,
摄制组期望拍到水下的画面
the team are keen to see what's happening underwater.
只有一条途径
Only one way to find out.
该放小艇下去了
Time to launch the dinghy.
道格·安德森在长杆上安置了一部水下摄影机
Doug Anderson approaches the seal and the killers
带往海豹与鲸鱼处
with an underwater camera mounted on a pole.
摄制组首次得以观察到
For the first time, the team can see

how the whales create the killer wave.

There it is.
水下摄影机还展示了
The underwater camera also reveals
鲸鱼令人惊异的警惕反应
surprisingly cautious behaviour by the whales.
似乎它们惟恐被身形较其更小的海豹咬到
They seem wary of being bitten by the much smaller seal.
甚至它们还喷出气泡迷惑对方
And they even blow bubbles to confuse it.
鲸鱼对海豹竟如此警惕
They're so cautious with the seals.
毕竟海豹拥有尖牙利齿的大嘴
At the end of the day, the seal's got a big mouth full of teeth,
鲸鱼也不敢轻举妄动
and these whales just don't take risks.
与海豹周♥旋♥一番后
Having dealt with the seal,
鲸鱼的注意力转向了小艇
the whales turn their attention to the dinghy.
起初它们径直钻出水面
First, they get right up close
以期近距离观察道格
for a better look at Doug.
随后它们结组掀起
Then they line up to create the kind of wave
将海豹从浮冰推下那样的水浪
that washed the seal off the floe.
如此近距离领略海豹被袭那惊鸿一幕
For a moment, the crew get an uncomfortably close
令组员也曾为之心惊
seal's eye view of this remarkable hunting strategy.

Look! See that? The juvies are making waves.
这是一种奇妙的体验
It's a great feeling being there.
近在咫尺地观察鲸鱼行为
Being so close to the behaviour,
海水还漾进了船内
having the water coming into the boat.
在我们来看
From our point of view, you know,
只是想体验
it's all about trying to
与这些鲸鱼共处的时时刻刻
get the feeling of being with these whales.
与其共处
With these whales,
却不带来丝毫纷扰它们是如此自信
there's no bother with that. They're so confident.
只是在你身边游弋观察着你
They just want to be all around you and checking you out.
我无法想象
I can't imagine I'll have
在职业生涯还会有如此体验
another experience like this in my career.
这种机会稍纵即逝
You know, these come along rarely.
待鲸群真的到来时心中只有愉悦庆幸
And you just feel happy and lucky when...when they do come.
人生之快乐莫过于此
You just don't get better days than that.
