It's a fossa.

For most of the year,

fossas are solitary,

but in the breeding season,

they assemble in a way that is all their own.

Why they have this extraordinary shape, no one knows.

They feed on tree sap,

sometimes known, perhaps flatteringly, as honeydew.

And honeydew, in turn,

It's very active and needs an energy-packed food.

And while the sugar drops are clearly delicious,

So, she's not going to let a single drop go to waste.
