seeing the love of God to this woman.
And I speak to all pain in this shoulder.
And I command it to leave in Jesus name.
Is the pain gone?
What do you think?
好棒
Yes.
Oh incredible.
[Gabriel] You feel any better?
It's hurting. -[Gabriel] So your left foot is hurting now?
[Amy] Can we pray for that?
Do you feel anything happening?
[John] When it comes to people who see miracles
that were answered prayers everywhere,
they are being affected by something

they don't know about yet.
And it's called confirmation bias.
We as human beings love to seek confirmation
of what we already believe. It's just been proven.
That's what we do, all of us.
So what we all need to do is look for objective evidence
for that which we want to believe.
[Elijah] What do you feel happened in your arm?
I don't know for sure 'cause I wouldn't say
I'm skeptical but it's here for so long.
I just, I would like help.
[Elijah] Do you have any medical evidence
for that girl that was healed?
没有
No.
Do you have any medical evidence of this event occurring?
None whatsoever.
[Karen] I mean, these are people who are in the slums.
Like they do not have the finances to go
and get medical documentation of this miracle.
Why do you think the miracles don't happen
when the cameras are on?
What about the guy that had his rotator cuff healed?
[Karen] Yeah that was a miracle, yeah.
[Daniel] What about the girl who got
strength back in her leg?
Within my perspective those are miracles.
[Michael] Miracles don't happen.

from a scientific perspective, they unravel.
And so be very skeptical.
[Elijah] I grew up in Flowery Branch, Georgia in the '80s.
When I was a kid, I used to play outside a lot.
I loved baseball. I loved basketball.
I grew up in a Christian home.
My grandfather was an elder at a Presbyterian church.
And so we went to church all the time.
My dad worked a lot.
He was a good guy, loved to fish, hunt,
kind of quieter.
My mom read the Bible to me.
She taught Bible school.
And she also beat me for hours at a time.
She would whip me with belts and hickories
which isn't uncommon.
It's just, it went to crazy mode.
She would have us like cleaning the windows.
And if there was one spot on them she would like
for hours, beat me.
The blood would just be dripping down my legs.
I remember just like laying in my bed,
praying like God kill me, like kill me or kill her.
Like I do not wanna live anymore.
This is miserable.
And nothing happened.
Where are you at, God?
Why do you not care about children
that are being beat like this?
And it really made me doubt God's existence.
Like is this Christianity thing
just a fairy tale that people have made up
in order to make kids be good?
Or make old people feel good about dying?
One night at then the church camp
everybody's outside singing.
I'm like, God, if you're real, show me in a way
that I know that I know.
All of a sudden I began to feel the presence of God.
And it just felt like
God is Holy and I am not Holy.
And I remembered the "come to Jesus" talks I'd heard
in Bible school where they're like,
Jesus is the only way to salvation.
And you have to believe in him
for the forgiveness of your sins.
And so I gave my life to Jesus that night
and I felt peace afterwards.
When I was about 12, my mom got a disease
called polymyositis.
[Preacher] I believe that Jesus died-
[Elijah] There's this faith healer comes on TV.
他说
And he says,
"If you give me money, God will heal you."
I'm a 12 or 13 year old kid and I know that's crap.
And so I just kinda get up out of the room and walk out.
A few weeks later, I see a receipt from that organization.
And I want to say it was for over a thousand dollars.
And I knew my mom had just been conned
by one of these people.
And so that made me think any type of healing
has to be con-artistry today.
[Michael] Why at 77 years old,
as somebody who was brought up as a Quaker,
very intense Christian who lost his faith

Why don't I cover my options?
Well, I think there are a number of reasons.
The trite ones are the problem of evil.
I mean, how could any kind of God allow
Anne Frank to die in agony in Bergen-Belsen?
My problem more than that, is I have a lot of trouble,
particularly with Christianity,
with just the general coherence of the notion of God.
'Cause the God of the Jews is a person.
Whereas of course the god of the philosophers
is not a person.
I also have trouble as many do,
with the different religions.
I find it very, very difficult to say
that one of the well known evangelists in America
