but it accelerates the process so we can see something visually.

So, what's happening is, these shells, they're made out of calcium carbonate,

What we're seeing here is more dramatic than what's happening in the ocean.

But the shells and the reefs are really truly dissolving.

Dissolved in the sea water, it forms carbonic acid.
