someone noticed something inconvenient about the location.

There was a tapestry reproduction of Guernica hanging on the wall.
噢天哪尖叫着的女人
''Oh, dear. Screaming women,
燃烧的房♥屋死去的婴儿还有锯齿状的线条
burning houses, dead babies, jagged lines. ''
摄影师说快盖上看着它就不舒服
''Cover it up, ''said the TVpeople. ''It's too distracting. ''
所以这个复♥制♥品就被一个蓝色大窗帘给裹上了
So Guernica was shrouded by a big blue drape.
这时有个新闻工作者说话了
The news handlers could have said,
等一下我们可以拍摄这个画面毕竟上面表现的可是暴君的行为
''Hold on a minute, we could show the painting. After all, this is what tyrants do,
死亡苦难悲惨但是他们没有
''death, suffering, misery. '' But they didn't.
因为不管你怎么样对待它
However you massaged it,
只要这幅图画出现在新闻里
there was something about the way that damned picture would look on the news
会使看到它的人感到不舒服
that would upset people.
看来最好还是盖上吧
Much better to cover it up.
我认为这是称赞艺术力量的终极方式
It was, I suppose, the ultimate backhand compliment to the power of art.

You're the mightiest country in the world, you can throw your armies around,
你能除掉暴君
you can get rid of dictators.
但是嗨能不能不要和一幅杰作怄气呢
But, hey, don't tangle with a masterpiece.
