A pleasant family walks towards a house in the countryside.
这栋房♥子很特别
This house is special.
里面某些东西吸引着那个男人
Something about it draws the man near it.
当他们走近的时候 有一个人正在粉刷门口
A man paints the doorway just as they approach.
好了 这是一栋老房♥子
- Alright, so this is an old home
在这里 你会听到一些不同寻常的声音
and with old homes, you get unusual sounds.
这就是这栋房♥子的魅力之一
It's part of their charm.
这里是阁楼
And here we have the attic.
不知道电灯开关在哪里
I don't know where the light switch is.

Okay, so this right here is a furnace.
也可以说是一个空调
It's also an air conditioning unit.
空气调节装置用冷凝的方法
And the air conditioning unit pulls water out of the air
把水从空气中抽取出来
in the form of condensation.
这些东西有时候会发出咯咯声
And sometimes these things have a gurgling sound.

and downstairs that's gonna sound like a human being.

But it's just the water swirling around up in this thing.

Well, 150 years ago, we didn't have air conditioning

or indoor plumbing, so these pipes and the ducts

are struggling to deal with the air pressure
所以它会发出一种声音
and it makes sort of a whistle sound.
有时是低声细语的那种声音
Or maybe sometimes a whispering sound?

- It really sounds like it.

It really sounds like voices.

- And look at here, there's all this wood.
这房♥子是用木头建起来的
This house is made of wood,
木头可以吸收湿气
which is a material that absorbs and shrinks with moisture.
当它收缩和膨胀的时候
And when it expands and shrinks,
它会发出嘎吱的声音
it makes these creaking and groaning sounds.
所以当太阳升起的时候
So in the morning when the sun comes up,
所有的水分就会从木头里流出来 房♥子也会慢慢缩回去了
all the water goes out of the wood and the house shrinks.
然后在晚上……
And then at night time...

到了晚上 温度开始冷却下来的时候
At night time, when it cools down,
木头又会吸收那些湿气
that same wood brings in the moisture
于是它又开始膨胀了
and it expands again.

- Who?
-艾莉 那个吃娃娃的人
