about operating on his blocked bowel.

Cut down the middle of the tummy, go through your old cut,

麦德文四年前患上了肠癌
Maldwyn had bowel cancer four years ago,
之后癌细胞蔓延到他的肝脏
and it's since spread to his liver.
进行手术治疗并不是个简单的决定
So going ahead with the operation is not a straightforward decision.
他生活质量很差 没法进食饮水
He hasn't got any quality of life cos he can't eat and drink,
因为他的肠道阻塞了
cos his bowels are blocked.
总的来说 我们都觉得应该进行手术
And, on balance, we've both decided that he'd quite like it
我要先看一下引发病情的成因
if I have a look and see what the cause is.
如果是由于癌症复发
And if the cause is recurring cancer,
那就只是看看 缝合关腹 实言相告
we might just look, close his tummy up again and tell him that,
至少这样他就知道了
and then at least he knows.
如果只是肠道黏连 那希望我们能将其分开
If the cause is just adhesions, hopefully we can unpick them
让他的肠道恢复正常功能
and make his bowels work again,
他就能重新吃吃喝喝 回家享受生活
and he can eat, drink, go home, and have some quality of life.
-成功几率呢 -主要看手术时的观察结果
- Chance of success? - Well, it depends what we find.
