800 years ago...
圣方济各旅行前往圣地
St.Francis traveled to the Holy Land,

during the Crusades, the most ravaging war of his time.

He put his life on the line, to initiate peace
在基♥督♥信仰和伊♥斯♥兰♥信仰间试图达成和平
between Christianity and Islam.

Francis first tried to convince the Christian fighters and commanders,

to end the bloodshed.

And then, at great risk,

he walked directly to the highest authority

of the Islamic world, the Sultan of Egypt.

故事的后来，这位明智的苏丹
The story goes that the sultan, wise as he was,
对圣人的无畏、贫穷和道德的清澈
was very impressed by the Saint's fearlesssness,

his poverty and his moral clarity.

So he listened to him, let him go unharmed and said when they parted

the more your actions will have an impact on people,

温柔并不是软弱
Tenderness is not weakness,
而是力量！
it is strength!
温柔使我们能真正用双眼看向彼此
Tenderness makes us use our eyes to see the other,
用耳朵倾听彼此
our ears to hear the other,
听见孩子们的哭喊
to listen to the cries of the children,
听见穷苦的人们
the poor,
和那些对未来感到恐惧的人们
those who are afraid of the future.

To also listen to the silent cry

of our common home, our sick and polluted Earth.
我们要做的事情太多了
We have so much to do,

and we must do it together.
