Pope Francis: A Man of His Word

我们中的每一个人
each of us
都能成为台上的明灯
can become a bright candle to remind us
提醒我们光明终要胜过黑暗
that light will overcome darkness,
绝非反之而行
and never the other way around.
对我们基♥督♥徒来说
To us Christians
这未来有个名字
the future has a name...
叫作希望
And its name is Hope.
这是不故步自封的心灵才能生出的美德
It's the virtue of a heart that doesn't lock itself up,
不困陷于过去
that doesn't dwell on the past,
不止生活于当下
and not only survives the present,
也有望向明天的能力
but is able to see a tomorrow.
另一件能对他人的生活有所裨益的事
And one of the other things that help others in their lives
是对美的表达
is the expression of beauty.
一位艺术家
An artist
是美的宗徒
is an apostle of beauty,
能帮助别人生活下去
who helps others live.
让我们想想所有做到了这一点的艺术家们
Let's think of all the artists who achieved that.
也包括我们所有人！
But also all of us!
如果你问我：
And if you ask me,"Give me an example
“给我举个例子
of beauty,
关于美日常的每一天的美
simple everyday beauty,
能让我们帮助别人感觉更好
with which we can help others feel better
更开心一些的
and be happier."
我能想到两件事
two things come to my mind.
一个微笑
A smile,
和幽默感
and a sense of humour.
能够微笑的能力！
The ability to smile!
微笑是心灵结出的花朵
A smile is the flower of the heart,
尤其当她自发的浮现
especially when it is given freely,
而不出于操纵或者诱惑的目的
not for manipulative and seductive aims.
简简单单的一个微笑
Just a smile.
就像文学里常说的 “一个清新的笑容”
"A fresh smile" as it's called in literature.
还有幽默感
And the sense of humour.
这里我也想做一个个人的告解
Here I make a personal confession.
每天
Every day,
在我晨祷后
after my morning prayer,
我会背圣多玛斯·莫尔的祷词
I recite St.Thomas More.
他的“幽默的祈祷”
His "Prayer for good Humour"
’幽默感’
'Sense of Humour'
它用一种会让你笑出来的方式开始
It starts in a way that makes you laugh.
“主啊求你赐给我良好的消化系统
"Give me, O Lord, a good digestion,
也赐给我一些可以用来消化的东西。”
but also something to digest."
就是这样
