In these months and weeks
你们在寻求更好生活的路上
you have endured much suffering
已经承受了太多苦难
in your search for a better life.
你们中的许多人
Many of you
感到不得不
have felt forced to flee
要从这些层出不穷的冲突与迫♥害♥中逃离
from situations of conflict and persecution,
尤为是为了你们的孩子
above all for the sake of your children
为了你们的下一代
and your little ones.
你们为自己的家庭做出了很大牺牲
You've made big sacrifices for your families.
你们深知
You know the sorrow of having left behind
不得不将挚爱抛下的痛苦
all that was dear to you.
而其中最艰难的
And what is perhaps the most difficult
或许是不知道
without knowing
这未来到底
what the future might possibly
会带来什么
bring along.
天主创造了人本是要我们成为一家
God created mankind to be one family.
我们中任何一位兄弟姐妹♥痛♥苦时
When any of our brothers and sisters suffer,
一损俱损
we are all affected.
我们来是为呼吁世界
We have come to call the attention of the world
关切这人道主义的危机
to this serious humanitarian crisis,
也恳求它的解决
and to plead for its resolution.
我们希望世界
We hope that the world will pay attention
关注这悲剧般需求的状况
to this situation of tragic needs,
它实在是迫在眉睫
that is truly desperate,
也希望世界
and that it will respond in a way
以符合我们共同人性的方式做出回应
that is worthy of our common humanity.
这些人
These people
都是全球化不公的受害者
are victims of a global injustice!
他们为何被迫离开自己的土地？
Why do they have to leave their land?
因为战争 因为饥荒
For war, or hunger.
如果我们看看数据的话
If we take a look at the statistics...
这世上
Around 80%
大约八成的财富
of the world riches
掌握在不到两成人的手中
are in the hands of less than 20% of humanity.
在经济的平衡中
There is an inequality
存在着一种不平等
in the economic balance,
而这种不平等
and that inequality
使人边缘化
marginalizes,
使人排斥 使人隔阂
excludes, cast aside!
合一的过程是很困难的
The process of integration is difficult.
很显然我们面临
Obviously we are here facing
分歧差异的挑战
the challenge of differences.
而分歧和差异
And differences
总是让我们害怕
always scare us
因为它们使我们成长
because they make us grow.
一致性...
Uniformity...
并不能让我们成长
Doesn't make us grow,
因此也不让人害怕
so it doesn't scare us.
分歧和差异是有创造性的 它们会带来张力
Difference are creative, they create tension,
而解决这种张力使人类不断前进
and resolving this tension moves humanity forward.
我一直说
I have always said that
建造围墙
building walls
不是一个解决办法
is not a solution.
我们见过了
We've seen,
在上个世纪
in the last century,
一个人的堕落...
the fall of one...
不 这样什么问题都解决不了！
No, it resolves nothing!
我们必须要建的是桥梁
We must build bridges,
智慧地去建造
bridges that are made intelligently,
用对话和合一
with dialogue and integration.
关闭边境
Closing the borders
解决不了任何问题！
solves nothing!
因为 长远来看
Because that, in the long run,
会伤害自己的人♥民♥
harms its own people.

to address this Joint Session of Congress

"in the land of free and the home of the brave".
我们的世界
Our world
正面临
is facing
一场极大规模的难民危机
a refugee crisis of a magnitude
自从
not seen
第二次世界大战后再没有过
since the Second World War.
这给我们带来了很多巨大的挑战
This presents us with great challenges
很多艰难的抉择
and many hard decisions.
在这片大♥陆♥上也一样
On this continent, too.
成千上万的人
Thousands of persons
被迫向北去
are led to travel north
为自己寻找更好的生活
in search for a better life for themselves,
也为他们所爱之人
and for their loved ones.
我们不应为他们的数量感到惊讶
We must not be taken aback by their numbers,
而要以将他们视作人的角度出发
but rather view them as persons,
看看他们的脸
seeing their faces
听听他们的故事
and listening to their stories.
我们 生活在这片大♥陆♥上的人
We, the people of this continent,
不应惧怕外来者
are not fearful of foreigners,
因为我们中的大多数
because most of us
曾经就是外来者
were once foreigners.
让我们记住这条黄金法则
Let us remember the Golden Rule
“你们愿意人怎样待你们，
"Do unto others, as you...
也要怎样待人。”（路 6:31)
would have them do unto you."
若我们想要安全
If we want security,
便予人安全
let us give security.
我们想要生活
If we want life,
则予人生活
let us give life.
我们想要机会
if we want opportunities,
那让我们提供这些机会
let us provide these opportunities.
为对话与和平服务
Being at service of dialogue and peace
也意味着下定决心
also means being truly determined
去尽可能减少
to minimize,
或从长远来说
and in long term,
终结
to end
我们这世界上充斥的武力冲突
the many armed conflicts throughout our world.
这里我们要扪心自问
Here we have to ask ourselves:
为什么
why
致命的武器
are deadly weapon being sold
会卖♥♥给那些
to those who plan to inflict untold suffering
居心给人们和社会带来无法言说的苦难的人？
on individuals and society?
很遗憾 这答案
Sadly, the answer,
正如我们所知 就是为了钱
as we all know, is simply for money.
被鲜血浸透的钱
Money that is drenched in blood.
停止军♥火♥交易
It is our duty
这是我们的职责
to stop the arms trade.
教宗方济各没有武器，只有言语
Pope Francis has no weapons, other than words.
但今时今日言语还有用吗？
But do words still count today?
一些从来冷峻的美国议员
Some of the hard-boiled American congressmen
也被触动流泪
were moved to tears.
或许因为眼前这人
Maybe because there is a man who
真的如自己宣讲的一般去生活
lives what he preaches.
我们在摄影棚里看着这辆车的造型乐的不行
We're smiling here in the studio at the looks of this car,
我们习惯了那些造的跟无畏舰一样的美国车
we are used to the big American dreadnoughts,
豪华轿车，雪佛兰萨博班这种 这个车...
the limousines, the Chevy Suburbans and this is a... A Mr. Bean car
对比一下就像是憨豆先生开的车 一会这辆车会带着他在城里转转
by comparison and yeah, it's gonna take him around town.
确实 教宗方济各的车不是身份的象征
Indeed, Pope Francis's car is not a status symbol.
更像是一个信♥号♥♥ 告诉我们物质的拥有少一些我们也过得去
It's rather a signal that we can all get by with less.
他真正的身份 是他是说真话的人
His status is that he says the truth,
他关心公共的益处
