we have such riches,
有如此丰富的资源来给每个人提供食物
so many resources for giving food to everybody,
你根本没法理解
you can't understand
怎么能有那么多挨饿的孩童
how there can be so many hungry children,
能有那么多无法接受教育的孩童
so many children without education,
能有那么多贫穷的人！
so many poor!
今日的贫穷根本骇人听闻！
The poverty today is an outrage!
我们都该想想
We must all consider
我们能不能变得稍稍贫穷一些
if we can't be a little poorer.
这是我们所有人都该做的一件事
This is something we all must do,
不要拥有那么多物质
not have so many things,
变得稍稍贫穷一些
and become a bit poorer.
在我接受的第一个采访当中
In the first interview I gave,
我向报导教宗选举的记者致意
in which I saluted the journalist who covered the conclave,
那是三年前
three years ago,
当时我的心里浮现出一个宣言
a declaration came straight from my heart:
我多么想要一个贫穷 为贫穷♥人♥的教会！
How much I wanted a poor church for the poor!
耶稣在福音中告诉我们
Jesus tells us in the gospel
没有人能侍奉两个主人 (玛 6:24)
that no one can serve two masters.
我们要么事奉天主 要么侍奉金钱
We either serve God or we serve money.
这巨大的诱惑亘古就有
And the big temptation that was felt throughout history
对基♥督♥徒，对所有人，对教会
by christians, by man and by the church，
财富始终是诱惑
has always been wealth.
教会当中有些人
In the Church there are men，
已经向那些诱惑屈服了
Who have yielded，and are still yielding
有些人还在动摇当中
to those temptations.
亲爱的弟兄们
Dear brothers.
我们可以将教廷
It is good to think of the Roman curia
看做是整个教会的一个小模型
as a small model of the Church，
或是看做一个“肢体”
or as a 'body'
这肢体每日积极不懈
that strives seriously, every day,
要变得更为活跃
to be more alive，
变得更健康 更和谐
more healthy, more harmonious
与自身也与基♥督♥日趋合一
and more united in itself and with Christ.
然而 由于教廷是生活的肢体
However, since the Curia is a dynamic body,
若无养分 若无治愈
it cannot live without nourishment
便无法存活
and without healing.
就如同任何肢体
Like any body,
如同任何人的身体一样
like any human body,
它也暴露在疾病中
it is also exposed to diseases,
在故障中
to malfunctioning,
在虚弱中
to infirmity.
这里我想提下其中一些可能的疾病
Here i'd like to mention some of these probable diseases.
有一些疾病和诱惑
There are the diseases and temptations
动摇了我们事奉上主的心
that weaken our service to the Lord.
首先是从我们认为自己可以“永生不朽”
Let's begin with the disease of thinking we are "immortal",
可以“免疫”
"immune"
或者认为自己“无可或缺 不可替代”的疾病开始
or downright "indispensable",
忽略定期省察的需要
neglecting the need of regular check-ups
一个不会自我批判
A Curia which is not self-critical,
不寻求更新
which doesn't update,
不寻求自新的教廷
or seeks to improve itself,
是病态的肢体
is a sick body.
竞争的疾病 虚荣的疾病
The disease of rivalry and vaingloriousness...
自我封闭 搞小圈子的疾病
The disease of "closed circles"...
总是面带愁容的疾病
The disease of a lugubrious face...
“精神分♥裂♥”的疾病
The disease of "existential schizophrenia".
“心灵上的阿尔茨海默症”
The "spiritual Alzheimer's disease"
还有
And lastly,
“积蓄”的疾病
the disease of "hoarding".
一位宗徒竟然要通过积蓄物质
When an apostle tries to fill an existential void in his heart
来试着填补心灵空虚
by accumulating material goods,
而非出于需要
not out of need
仅仅为了藉此获得安全感
but only in order to feel secure.
只要有任何一个教堂
As long as there is a church that places its hope
将希望建立在财富上
on wealth.
耶稣
Jesus
就不在那里
is not there.
我重复一遍
I say it again.
但凡有一个堂 把希望着于财富上
As long as the church is placing its hope on wealth,
耶稣就不会在那里
Jesus is not there.
它或许是个为了慈善或文化的
It's an NGO...
非政♥府♥组织
for charity or culture,
但它不是耶稣的教会
but it's not the church of Jesus.
贫穷是福音的中心！
Poverty is at the center of the gospel!

I had to travel

to a meeting of teachers for novices
我说的是1970年
I'm talking about 1970.
当时在那座城市
In the city where this took place...
他们带我去参观
They gave me a tour,
我一生中第一次
and for the first time
见到了有门禁的社区
I saw a gated community.
一个被保护起来的社区
A protected neighbourhood,
与其他区域隔离开
separated from the rest.
我不理解
I could not understand that,
因为我在阿根廷从没见过这种事
because in Argentina I had not yet seen this.
现在阿根廷也到处都是了
Today they have lots of those.
这就形成了张力！
That is the effect!
我们为了自己
We take a small land for ourselves,
一群群人把一块块土地据为己有
for a small group,
剩下的人呢
and the rest have to get by,
只能靠着我们剩下的大地母亲的碎屑过活
with the scraps of Mother Earth that we left behind.

在爱，慷慨和喜乐中经验到被接纳
How good is it to be welcomed
是多美好的一件事
with love, generosity and joy.
当我们不吝啬于接纳别人的时候
When we're generous in welcoming people,
慷慨地与他人分享我们的食物，居所，时间的时候
and sharing with them some food, a place in our homes, our time,
我们便不再是贫穷的
we no longer remain poor.
我们被丰富了
We are enriched.
我知道当有人需要食物时
I know when someone who needs food
来敲你们的门
knocks at your door
你们总会找到办法
You always find a way
分享你们的食物的
of sharing your meal.
就像俗话说的
As the saying goes,
“煮豆子的时候多加点水不就行了”
"You can always add more water to the beans."
你们愿意在煮豆子的时候多加点水吗？
Can one add more water to the beans?
能常常这样吗？
Always?

for a plea, on behalf of all those who have a job,
我们这类人越来越少
and we are less and less,
为失去了工作的人请♥愿♥
for all those who have lost it,
这些人却很多
and they are many,
也为那些还没能找到工作的人请♥愿♥
and for those who haven't yet found work,
这些人也很多
and those are plenty.
我们需要相信 工作是神圣的
We need to believe that work is sacred.
