When all of a sudden you can look back truthfully at that recent past
每个人都记得他们的经历
which everyone remembers how they experienced it
但他们在文学和电影中看不到真实的画面
but they couldn't see the real picture anywhere in literature, in film

because it was a false, ideological picture that the regime wanted.

And the next week, the next lecture was scheduled.

I'm very proud of the idea. Naturally, Hrabal wrote it beautifully.

I shot it in the naïve belief that the communists can reform themselves...
