大太平洋（2017）

I've filmed underwater for over 15 years,
从未见过三英寸的鱼建造七十英寸大的巢穴
and I've never seen a 3-inch fish build a 70-inch-big nest,

It's hard to imagine how this little thing

Looks like they're just about finished with the nest,

A mate is expected any time now.

So is a typhoon that could wreck everything.

It's not as fierce as some storms here,

but it's slow-moving- they just have to wait it out.

After the typhoon passes, the team heads back on the water,

The pufferfish's art has stood up to the storms,

and even better, it's time.

You know, you go down there,

you really have no idea what to expect.

And all of a sudden, females start coming in.

So that was pretty wild and pretty lucky

that we were even...even down there when it was happening.

The females inspect all the nests in the area

before making their choice.

Well, that was pretty cool.

First got down there...

and the males would go crazy in their nest,

And then, finally,

a female settled in, a male came up beside her.

You know, he'd come in, little bite on the cheek,

and he sort of pulls himself... pulls the female towards him.

Yeah. We finally... finally got it.

She deposits her eggs and leaves.

The male fertilises them and stays guard until they hatch.

Then he too abandons the nest he's so elaborately built.

Ocean currents do the rest until nothing is left,

so now we're heading out to the island as fast as possible

The first morning on Snake Island.
我拍过很多蛇的照片 从没见过这样的密度
I've shot a lot of snake stuff, never seen a density like this.
几乎无处不在
They are everywhere.
在我面前的这片灌木丛里至少有三条
So we've got...at least three in this bush right in front of me,
几乎每一片灌木丛都有一条
and almost every bush has one going up,
静静的在等待候鸟的到来
just waiting for these migratory birds to come through.

As each snake catches its morning meal,

the crew has to bump and move to find a new subject to film.

Even juveniles give a feisty response

when they're disturbed.

Scott still doesn't have the most important shot-

the moment a snake strikes a bird.

The snake is poised. The bird is close.

But not close enough.

A lot of times with snakes, it's being in the right place

at the right time, which is still the case here.
