These city cats have successfully split the street between them,

by the arrival of another cat.

First he starts appearing during the day.

Then one night he's caught on cat-cam by Smudge,

who's hiding under a car.

After a quick yowling match,

Smudge backs down and races home to safety.

This new cat is trespassing not only on Smudge's turf,

but also on Ozzy's.

Ozzy's losing his throne and he's very grumpy about it.

It's a younger male - a grey cat, who is a fighter -

his ear is notched in a few places,

and he doesn't run away when Ozzy shouts at him.

One night Ozzy's owners have to step in

and break up a fight between him and this new pretender to his throne.

He advanced on Ozzy and cornered him.

Erm, so we tried to pick up Ozzy to take him out of that, and Ozzy...

Ozzy attacked his, er, his cavalry, yes.

Erm, to there was a tetanus injection involved,

It's all about the distribution of food.

As soon as the food supply is insufficient for the number of cats there,

This is a crucial difference between domestic cats

and most of the rest of the cat family, is

and that is a commonly defended territory,
