is cramming his gear onto the boat.

and a lot of the camera kit
is actually going on the bottom bunk

so the boat is full to the gunwales.

But I'm looking forward to it,
it's going to be an amazing trip.

The team know there are krill here

enough to support the countless penguins,
fish and other creatures that feed on them.

But finding them turns out to be tricky.

A kelp forest, just an hour's sail
from Port Stanley.

The perfect place for
young krill to hide from predators.

There are plenty of small animals
taking shelter amongst the fronds
但没有海螯虾的踪影
but no sign of krill.

The trip is not completely wasted.

A young sea lion comes to check them out

MIKE: What was nice, was the sea lion
coming at the end. What a cracker.

He just, he just did a pirouette
right on the sand.

It just looked really magic. . .
forty frames.

On the advice of local experts,
the team travel further west.
他们找到一处距离海狮栖息地很近的理想地点
They find what looks like an ideal site,
close to a sea lion colony.
潜水起初进展顺利
The dive starts well.
接着 突然 危险从昏暗中降临
Then suddenly,
a threat bursts out of the gloom.
一头重约三百三十公斤的雄性海狮要保卫它的领地
A bull sea lion, weighing a third of a tonne,
defending his territory
它那大如灰熊的头部足以造成致命伤害
With a head like a grizzly bear,
he could cause serious damage.
它露出牙齿 发出攻击性的鼻息声
He bears his teeth
and snorts aggressively.
幸运的是 雄海狮并没有发起进攻就让摄制组离开了
But luckily for the team,
he lets them leave, without attacking.
我真高兴大家能毫发无损地离开
MIKE: I'm just glad we're all out
in one piece, out of the water.
当时没有时间考虑 只是在想“赶紧离开海里吧”
There were no ifs and buts,
it was 'let's get out the water'
因为你会有种预感 下一刻
because. . . you just got this feeling
that the next thing that could happen
我们中就有人可能被咬
one of us could've been bitten.
又一次不成功的下潜
Another unsuccessful dive.
接着事态进一步恶化
And then events take a turn for the worse.

It may be summer here
但福克兰群岛的天气却依然能很快恶化
but the weather in the Falklands
can still deteriorate quickly.
毕竟南极距离这里只有一步之遥
Antarctica is only a short hop away.

They must wait two days
for the storm to pass.

Although it's still choppy,
the team don't want to lose anymore time.

The sea is so churned up
that visibility is close to zero.

Now desperate to find krill,
the divers spent too long in the freezing water.
那次潜水让我得了感冒
I got a cold. I got a cold on that dive.
士气跌入谷底
Spirits hit an all time low.
迈克也生病了
And Mike has fallen ill.

Diving with a cold
can lead to serious ear damage.

it's clear the team need a new approach.

They have to avoid unnecessary dives
in the cold water.

The answer: a small camera on a rope.

Mission accomplished.
