Despite keeping tabs on the whales over the next ten days,

there was still no sign of a heat run starting.

You'd think it'd be quite easy to keep track of a 40-tonne animal.
这里还有六只但是跟丢的越来越多
And we've got six of them out here, and we keep losing them.
它们一下子在那里我们赶紧靠近
One minute they're there, we get up reasonably close,
过三十秒它们又潜下去跑掉了
and within 30 seconds, they've dived and they're gone again.
然后再过五或十分钟它们又浮出水面
And then it takes another maybe five minutes, ten minutes,
可是却在三百码的距离之外
and then they'll come up again and they'll be 300 yards away,
我们又要花老半天再靠近它们
and it takes ages just to get close to them.
一直在玩猫捉老鼠的游戏
So we're just playing a continuous game of cat and mouse.
猫捉老鼠这可是鲸鱼耶
Cat and mouse? It's whales.
求偶的季节即将进入尾声
The mating season is coming to an end,
摄影小组还没有完成任务
and the crew haven't completed their mission.
终于，这个时候鲸鱼的行为开始变得不一样了
But then, at last, the whales' behaviour seems to have changed.

Well, this is it!
海面上出现六，七只的座头鲸
We just spotted about six or seven humpbacks on the horizon.
我们觉得它们正在求偶追逐
We think it's a heat run.
过去十六，十七天在海上的等待
The last 16, 17 days on the water
现在就看接下来的两小时
are probably gonna come down to the next two hours,
我们能不能拍到东西了
as to whether we get our shots or not.
开始追逐了
The chase is on!
刚才至少有三，四只游过去
There was at least three or four males going past -
它们在比赛，互相超越对方
they were competing and knocking into each other
同时又要争取母鲸后方的最佳位置
as they tried to get the poll position behind the female.
就在你前面，在你前面
It's right at you, it's right at you.
鲸鱼的速度非常快
The whales are moving so fast that, to stand any chance of filming them,
想要抓住拍摄的机会
the crew needs to be dropped right in front of the charging group.
摄影师必须下水直接到鲸鱼的前面
Just as Roger gets alongside the males,
等到罗杰来到公鲸鱼的旁边
the tempo of the chase suddenly shifts to full bore
公鲸鱼追逐的节奏突然慢下来只见它们好像无聊似地摆动尾巴
with a flick of a tail.
面对深海里全力冲刺的公鲸鱼
Facing the charging males deep underwater, Roger keeps shooting,
罗杰只是不停地拍摄憋住气直到公鲸鱼游过去
holding his breath until the group pass over.
罗杰很快地再吸一口气又潜水下去
A quick gasp of air, and Roger's back down again.
座头鲸不断地游过去
The whales continue to rush by.
终于罗杰再也憋不住气了
In the end, Roger just can't keep up any longer.
累死人了该结束回到船上去了
Exhausted, it's time to return to the boat for the last time.
太奇妙了
Amazing! That was the most amazing experience I've ever had.

There was about...
大概有七，八只鲸鱼
seven or eight.
在我前面潜下去大概二十公尺
Both dived down about 20 metres in front.
然后母鲸先过来，靠得蛮近的
And then the female came through first, quite close.
公鲸鱼突然开始朝我游过来
And then they all just started diving towards me,
我好像站在马路中间
it was like standing in a stream of traffic.
这一边好像有车流通过另外这一边也是
It was just one one side, one the next side, one the next side.
大概过了四十秒之后不知道四十还是四十五秒
And then, after about 40 seconds,
我喘不过气了，我往上看
40, 45 seconds, I was getting a little bit out of breath.
竟然看到一只就在我头顶上
And then I looked up, and there's one sitting right on top of me.
- 你都拍到了吗 - 应该有吧，希望有
- Did you get it? - I think so. Hope so.
要是没有我们俩就准备走路了
If not, then we're both fired!
制♥作♥团队共花了十八天并且下海潜水了几百次
It's taken 18 days and hundreds of dives,
最后终于拍摄到这些鲸鱼
but at last the team have been able to reveal a secret
鲜为人所见的秘密活动
of these whales' lives that few people have ever seen.
