In the centuries of medieval
Catholicism, English bells

to take it on yourself, so, no,
at two years old he wasn't baptised.

So what would that mean
in terms of a funeral?

It meant that he was entitled
to burial in the churchyard

as a parishioner, but no service
could be read over the child at all.

to mark the passing of a child.

The family felt passionately
