Potential victims are lured by the sweet scent of nectar.

Some pitchers digest the bodies with enzymes.

It allows the plant to get the nutrients it needs

without relying on the poor soil of the rainforest.

Other species of pitcher outsource their digestion process.

They have residents that can survive in the liquid.

A crab spider.

And when a victim falls into the pitcher,
