她沿着绳子往上 爬得越高空气就越热
As she climbs the rope, the air becomes hotter and hotter.
她安然无恙地逃了出来
She's made it out without a scratch.
虽然她在农场中住了一辈子
Although she's lived on the farm all her life,
却从未见过牛
this mouse hasn't seen a cow before.
她以前从未去过离窝九米以外的地方
Having never ventured more than 30 feet from her nest,

this mother is now far from home...
闯入了奇异新世界
thrust into a strange, new world.
她嗅着空气 寻找熟悉的气味
She sniffs the air for a sign of something recognizable,

anything that can help her return to her young in the stable.

But the strong smell of smoke has dulled her senses,

To the mouse, it appears like a dragon.

The wooden gate provides just enough shelter

for her to assess her surroundings.

But not all is what it seems.

But precautions have been taken against any would-be thieves.

Clearly, this stockpile was not meant for the mouse.

But she's not alone.

A tarantula stalks the pantry for prey.

the mouse hasn't noticed a deadly predator

illuminated by the black light of a fly zapper.

The scorpion wears its skeleton on the outside of its body.

Reacting to the ultraviolet rays, the armor plating glows in the dark.
但蝎子对老鼠不感兴趣
Yet the scorpion has no appetite for mice.

Perceiving the mouse as a threat,

its venomous-tipped tail is ready to strike in self-defense.

And so, she makes a hasty retreat.

But this black light has revealed something else.

In her wake, the mouse is leaving glowing smudges of urine...
像是掉了一路的面包屑在发光
like an illuminated trail of breadcrumbs.
人类讨厌家里出现老鼠的原因显而易见
It's easy to see why humans dislike mice in their homes.
要是她被发现 就有可能被消灭
If discovered, she risks being exterminated.
黑暗中又出现了一只阴险的生物
Another sinister being emerges from the dark.
一只有毒的双头怪物
A venomous, two-headed monster,
这只巨型蜈蚣可以将毒液注入比它体型大得多的猎物体内
this giant centipede can inject venom into prey much larger than itself.
老鼠很容易受到攻击
The mouse is an easy target.
幸好蜈蚣的视力很差
Fortunately, the centipede's vision is poor,
它的触角也未能探测到玻璃后面老鼠的行动
and its antennae fail to detect the mouse's movement behind the glass.
又一次侥幸脱险
That's one too many close calls.
虽然这间食物储藏室提供了这位母亲一辈子都吃不完的食物
Although this pantry provides all the food this mother could ever need,
本能告诉她 她该继续前行了无论如何
her instinct is to continue on. No matter what,
她必须回到孩子们身边
she must return to her young.
一离开农舍 老鼠就闻到了熟悉的气味
Upon leaving the farmhouse, the mouse detects a familiar scent.
她知道自己身在何处了
She knows where she is...
院子里
the courtyard.
她一秒也不敢耽误 做最后的冲刺
She wastes no time, and sprints the final leg.
通过谷仓的捷径能让她更快回到马厩的家
A shortcut through the barn will get her home to the stable faster.
谷仓已经面目全非了
The barn is now a shadow of what it once was.
这里曾经是个舒适的地方 现在只剩烧焦的木头和灰烬
Burnt wood and ash fill the once-welcoming space.
现在这里沦落成一个冰冷可怕的地方
It's a cold and eerie place now,
但也是她的整个世界
but it's all she has.
幸好有些食物未被大火肆虐
Fortunately, some of the food was spared from the fire.
她饿坏了 必须从烧焦的地上挑出完好的碎屑
Starving, she must now select the good bits from the scorched earth.
但在谷仓的阴影中 还潜伏着另一只生物
But something's in the barn with her, lurking in the shadows.
是她的老冤家
It's her old enemy...

The lives of her young depend on her safe return,

so she sprints for her life, searching for any sign of an escape route.

she's unsure of what she'll find there.

Luckily, all is well.

Tucked up safe and warm, her pups are just as she left them.

Although separated from her young for only 24 hours,

in human terms, she's been gone for the equivalent of three months.

Against all odds, she's made it back in one piece.
